Dark as hell

Hellboy and the rookie B.P.R.D. In the 1950s, agents are sent to Appalachia where they discover an isolated community dominated by witches and ruled by the sinister local demon Crooked Man. Its budget is reportedly $20 million, the smallest of the four adaptations. Dear Watts: It’s dark out there.

Additionally, the supporting cast is another weak point
“Hellboy: The Crooked Man” attempts to bring the iconic character’s universe to life, but faces serious challenges that prevent it from reaching the heights of Guillermo del Toro’s films. The low budget doesn’t quite capture the scale and complexity of Hellboy’s world, resulting in a rather limited effort overall. It feels like they’re trying to reboot Harry Potter on a budget equivalent to an episode of a mediocre CW show. While the production team clearly did their best to iron out the flaws, it proved to be a difficult task.
However, the sound editing, especially the jump scares, is too exaggerated
The performances are weak and often unconvincing, even less realistic and scarier than the roles in “Power Rangers.” However, Jack Kesey as Hellboy is one of the few bright spots. I hope this role opens doors for him because it’s one of the few things that actually works in a movie. The makeup and special effects also feel cheap and uninspired, failing to create an immersive experience and trying to create a creepy atmosphere doesn’t fall flat, making it look amateurish. On the other hand, the atmosphere of the film, while limited, is a positive aspect, as is the soundtrack with ominous tunes that contribute to the dark and mystical tone of the film.

“Hellboy: The Crooked Man” is a film that tries to capture the essence of a complex universe with limited resources, which makes the film feel more like a fan project than a true invention of the character. It’s an example of how a low budget can seriously compromise a film’s potential, even if the production team makes genuine efforts. Movies “What We Do in the Shadows” last season; is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
